Aktion Club donates supplies, cash to Shelbyville special ed students

Shane Roell, Past-President of the Shelbyville VC Aktion Club, recently presented a donation of school supplies and funds to benefit special education students in the Shelbyville Central Schools system.

The members of the Aktion Club have not been meeting regularly since March of last year, since the Covid-19 pandemic first hit Shelbyville.

However, the club still supports several local charities and hopes to start meeting later this year.

The donation Roell made to special education students includes; coloring books, crayons, pens, pencils, note pads, portfolios and other craft items. Two checks of $200.00 were also presented to help purchase other items that may be needed to help in the special education program, including the Especially Kidz program here in Shelbyville.

The Aktion Club began making donations to special education students about 10 years ago and has continued the donations to help students with special needs.

Some of the future graduating students will be invited to join the Aktion Club as soon as they become 18 years of age.
