Loper Elementary School has been donating loads of items for the past 15 years to the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter from its Paws to Paws donation drive. Friday’s haul might be the Shelbyville school’s biggest to date. That forced the local business to its current location on the city’s southwest side. In 1988, a second major fir

On an otherwise gloomy morning, Morristown High School students gave 12 people a reason to smile under circumstances that normally might produce a frown. Two students, accompanied by principal Jeremy Powers and English teacher Jim Helsley Jr., were taken around Morristown Tuesday morning by police chief Henry Albrecht to surprise residents and passersby with gift cards to Walmart and Kroger. The gift cards were paid for through a fundraiser at the high school that normally ra

What started as a typical day flared up quickly a few months ago for former Shelbyville firefighter Adam Gaudin. He rescued a woman trapped inside a burning building. The initial 911 call came in as a domestic disturbance on the east side of Indianapolis, but when the emergency crew arrived, flames were shooting from an apartment building. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) personnel on scene reported a person was trapped inside. Within minutes, Gaudin faced t
