Brown wins DAR Good Citizen Essay Contest

Clayton James Brown, a senior at Triton Central High School, is this year’s Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Essay Contest winner for Shelby County.

Mary Mott Green chapter of DAR sponsors the contest annually. Each high school has a winning essayist. A panel of judges then selects one of the winners to represent the county at the state competition level.

Judges review each Good Citizens’ personal accomplishments within school and the community during their academic careers, letters of reference, grade transcript, and future plans.

Brown is the son of James and Deborah Brown of Indianapolis.

Representing their respective schools as DAR Good Citizens are:

n Grace Martin, Shelbyville High School senior, daughter of Bob and Darla Martin, Victoria and Greg Martin-Smith of Shelbyville

n Abigail Jolynne Sweet, a senior at Southwestern High School, daughter of Greg and Sherri Sweet of Shelbyville.

n Victoria Rae Shaw, senior, Waldron Jr.-Sr. High School, daughter of Lori Shaw and John Shaw, Shelbyville.
