TCHS earns Four Star status
A Shelby County school was one of 234 schools in Indiana to receive Four Star School status from the 2017-18 school year, the Indiana Department of Education announced Friday.
Triton Central High School was named a Four Star School. It is the third time since the 2012-13 school year that the high school received that status. The school most recently received it for the 2014-15 school.
The award has been given to schools in Indiana for more than 30 years.
To receive the designation, a school must receive an ‘A’ on the state’s A-F accountability system as well as have excellent passing rates for the ISTEP.
“Receiving designation as a Four Star School reflects academic excellence among students, educators, and the administration,” said Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction in a media release. “I am honored to recognize these Four Star Schools for their hard work and dedication in preparing their students for a bright and prosperous future.”
