Small Business Champion

Honors a Chamber member company that generally has fewer than 100 employees. The company will be assessed on the following:

  • Demonstrates visible growth and achievements

  • Makes a positive community impact by investing both

  • Adheres to company’s brand promise through business and community support

  • Volunteerism of employee base

Large Business Champion

Honors a Chamber member company that generally has more than 100 employees. The company will be assessed on the following:

  • Demonstrates visible growth and achievements

  • Makes a positive community impact by investing both

  • Adheres to company’s brand promise through business and community support

  • Volunteerism of employee base

Non-Profit Champion

Honors a Chamber member non-profit organization. The organization will be assessed on the following:

  • Makes a positive community impact

  • Fulfills community need(s) by adhering to organization’s mission

  • Values partnerships and collaborations

  • Has an engaged board and strong leadership
     

Shelby County Community Lifetime Achievement

The Community Lifetime Achievement award is based on someone who, by acts of citizenship and involvement in the community during his or her lifetime, shaped the heritage and promoted the development of our community and its culture today. Nominees must be at least sixty years of age and have made major impact(s) on Shelby County. Recommendation letters must effectively document applicant’s service to others.

John A. Hartnett, Sr. Business Person

The John A. Hartnett, Sr. Business Person is based on a businessperson who is involved extensively in service and civic organizations and contributes to the success of their business organization in the community. The businessperson should also inspire others to community involvement through their work similar to Mr. Hartnett. Thorough documentation of the individual’s effort should be presented.

John A. Hartnett, Sr. (1923-1991) was a businessman who volunteered his time to the following organizations over a 31- year time period: SCUFFY-Board Member and Drive Chairman 1990, Red Cross, Optimist Club, Exchange Club, Knights of Columbus, Founding Member & Past President Shelby Arts Council, 25-year Board Member-Boys Club, Mental Health Board Member, Sertoma Service to Mankind Award, Kiwanian of the Year, Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Past President-Kiwanis Club, Organized St. Patrick’s Day Parade 1972-1978, Organized 25th Reunion-1947 State Basketball Championship Team.

Golden Pineapple Customer Service

The Golden Pineapple Customer Service award is based on consistent outstanding customer service given by an individual employee or business/service establishment in Shelby County. A well-detailed account of how the employee/establishment’s customer service philosophy has created a loyal customer-base should be submitted. The individual or establishment can also be recognized for how they have turned a negative situation into a positive experience. This award may also be bestowed based on the same characteristics of an outstanding employee award. This person should provide outstanding customer service to their fellow employees in Shelby County. They should be helpful, hardworking and self-motivated. A well-detailed account of how customer service philosophy has garnered great respect should be submitted.

Golden Apple Outstanding Educator

A candidate for the Golden Apple Outstanding Educator is a person who is exceptionally dedicated and knowledgeable with a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of young people. A great educator has the ability to inspire students from all backgrounds and abilities by creating positive, supportive relationships where learning can flourish. This person can be a teacher, administrator or support staff member from a Public or Parochial school in Shelby County that is respected by colleagues, students and parents. Please provide specific examples of how your nominee has positively impacted the lives of students.

Outstanding Citizen

The Outstanding Citizen award is based on service rendered other than an individual’s regular paid duties. The volunteer work should be of assistance to individuals and/or organizations in need. Thorough documentation of the individual’s effort should be presented.

 

2020 Chamber Awards Gala Nomination Form

The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking nominations for our Chamber Awards Gala. Awards are presented to honor and recognize outstanding individuals in our community. To make a nomination, please fill in the form below. Please nominate only one person per form. (*) Please note: A supporting paragraph is required with each nomination. Nominees must meet criteria established by the Chamber Awards Gala Committee. Awards will be presented at the discretion of the committee. All nominations are confidential and will be given equal consideration. Deadline for nominations is December 20, 2019.
